Bhubaneswar, Apr 17: On Saturday, a MoU was signed between the Odisha Government and the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) for the growth & development of feed and fodder and nutritional management of livestock in Odisha.
The MoU, “Feed and Fodder Production in Different Agro Climatic Zones and its Utilisation for Livestock of Odisha” was signed by the ILRI and Directorate of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services in presence of CM Naveen Patnaik. It’s decided that Rs 18.08 crore would be provided for the project by the State. On the other hand, the international agency of Kenya will be providing all the necessary training, skill development, laboratory know-how to equip the farmers to adopt the right feeding practices to manage their livestock based on particular cropping pattern and agro-climatic zones. The agency will also assist in resource mapping and nutrition analysis of the livestock of the state in each zone and then make a comprehensive enhancement of feed and fodder production in the state. Also, the ILRI in collaboration with the government is to create a network of 45 fodder cooperative societies and involve 120 progressive farmers to develop fodder nurseries.
Another MoU was signed between the Directorate of Pisciculture and the Indian Centre for Ocean Information Services, Hyderabad for rendering knowledge associated with study of oceans and its various other related aspects including natural disasters like tsunami.
