Bhubaneswar, Apr 12: Seems the Odisha Govt. is quite keen on investing into textile business as the authorities are deciding to open up the 67 years old Orissa Textile Mills (OTM) once again, which did shutdown in 2001 after facing huge financial losses.

Though the decision to open up the mill has been pending in the court since 2001, the state government is hopeful to regain it soon, said Industries Minister Debi Mishra while chairing a meeting.

Notably, the mill which was established by former Chief Minister of Odisha Biju Patnaik, in Choudwar block of Cuttack district in 1950 was formerly a public sector unit. But as the mill grew old, it went sick and soon financial losses started occurring. Later it was taken up by the state government, but did shutdown in 2001, after facing huge losses.

And now again, the govt is keen on opening it up and soon wants to set up an Integrated Park and Textile & Apparel industry there itself, said sources.
