Odisha Govt to sign MoU with Railways Ministry on Oct 10 for execution of two rail plans

Bhubaneswar/New Delhi, Oct 8: A memorandum of understanding between the Odisha government and the Railway Ministry will be signed on Oct 10 at the Raj Bhawan in New Delhi in order to execute two rail projects, the Jeypore-Malkangiri and Jeypore-Nabarangpur rail projects in the Odisha State which were sanctioned in the 2016-17 Railway Budget.

The memorandum will be signed having the Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik present.

The Odisha government has laid the fact that it would bear half of the cost incurred in the Jeypore -Nabarangapur project and 25 per cent of the cost incurred in the Jeypore-Malkangiri project. Also land will also be provided by the ruling state that too free of cost for the Nabarangapur project.

Notably, the Centre had allocated a token amount for both the projects in the 2016-17 Railway Budget. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will leave for New Delhi on a five-day visit from today.
