Bhubaneswar: May 09: On the occasion of Akshaya Trutiya, which marks the beginning of farming season, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik himself ploughed the fields at Laxminarayanpur in Puri District on Monday. Speaking on the occasion, chief Minister said, the farmers will not face difficulties this year as the Indian Meteorological department has forecast adequate rainfall. Also, he speaks about government’s plan and action on agricultural development like introduction of special agriculture budget, farmers’ welfare schemes and better irrigation facility.
Chief Minister launched ‘Direct Benefit Transfer’ scheme at the state level Krushak Divas programme on Monday. With this DBT scheme, the famers will get themselves registered online to purchase seeds and get the subsidy amount in their bank accounts directly. Agriculture Minister Pradeep Maharathy and senior officials also participated on the function.
