Odisha: Polling for 5 Lok Sabha seats & 35 Assembly seats begin

Bhubaneswar: April 18: Voters of five Parliamentary constituencies and 35 Assembly Constituencies in Odisha are in queue outside polling booths to elect their Lok Sabha and Assembly representatives today in the second-phase polls.

The Five Lok Sabha Constituencies that are polling today are Bargarh, Sundargarh, Bolangir, Kandhamal and Aska. Similarly, the 35 Assembly seats that are polling today for Assembly Constituencies  are Aska, Sorada, Sanakhemundi, Hinjili, Polasara, Kabisuryanagar, Khalikote, Baliguda, G. Udaygiri, Boudh, Kantamal, Bhanjanagar, Daspalla, Phulbani, Titlagarh, Patnagarh, Sonepur, Kantabanji, Biramaharajpur, Loisinga, Bolangir, Bargarh, Attabira, Bhatli, Padampur, Bijepur, Jharsuguda, Brajarajnagar, Sundargarh, Rajgangpur, Talsara, Rourkela, Ragunathpali, Bonai and Biramitrapur .

Voting has commenced from 7 a.m. and it will continue till 6 p.m. in the state. In the Maoists-affected areas, the poll process will be held till 4 p.m., said an official.

A total of 76.93 lakh voters were expected to exercise their rights for Bargarh, Sundargarh, Bolangir, Kandhamal and Aska Lok Sabha seats and 35 Assembly seats under these parliamentary constituencies.

Of the total voters, 39.45 lakh men, 37.47 lakh women and 605 others will cast their votes in 9,117 booths.

35 candidates are in the fray for the five Lok Sabha seats including 30 male and five female candidates. Similarly, 244 candidates are in the fray for the 35 Assembly seats including 219 are male and 25 female candidates.
