Odisha top most revenue earning Circle among “Y” categories of Postal Circles

Bhubaneswar: May 18: During the year 2017-18, Odisha Postal Circle has excelled in its operation in many fields. Dr. Santosh Kumar Kamila, Chief Postmaster General, Odisha Circle, addressed a press conference and highlighted the achievements of the Circle in the field of improved customer service and other important activities. During the year 2017-18, Odisha Circle earned the recognition of being top most revenue earning Circle among “Y” categories of Postal Circles. CPMG, Dr. Kamila received the 1st prize and citation from Hon’ble Minister of Communication (I/c), Shri Manoj Sinha, on 29.04.2018, in a function held at Bhopal. Odisha Postal Circle has been able to open 17,67,176 numbers of new SB accounts and earned `318 crores of revenue from Savings Bank transaction.

Odisha Postal Circle is committed to serve the people of Odisha providing added service on many fronts. Now citizens can enroll and update AADHAR through 473 numbers of Post offices. Similarly, Balasore, Berhampur, Baripda, Bhawanipatna Head Post Offices have been added to the list of Post Offices providing Passport Seva Kendra and Athagarh Head Post Office for Rail Ticket Booking facilities.

To meet the customer needs and improved computerised customer service DARPAN Project has been implemented in 2611 Branch Post Offices of Angul Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Jharsuguda and Deogarh. By this computerisation has reached the rural customers. All the Postal Divisions and RMS Divisions have been rolled out with CSI (Core Syetem Integration) project. Out of 1206 numbers of Departmental Posta Offices, 1024 numbers of Post Offices are working on CBS platform.

Odisha Postal Cirlce is committed to its social responsibilities and in the process surveyed un-electrical households of 47677 numbers of villages in a record time of 30 days and submitted its report to Central Government. Similarly to provide retail services through its network of 8215 outlets, people can pay their water bills (AMRUT CITY) and electricity bills (NESCO/SOUTHCO/WESCO) in all Post Offices having ePayment facilities. The same will be extended to CESU areas shortly.

Dr. Kamila also appealed the people of Odisha to avail the facility of doorsteps service of payment of bills, opening of account and availing PMSBY/APY / Postal Life insurance service through beat postman and Grameen Dak Sevak. In addition to Chief PMG, PMG, Brahmapur, Col Jaleswar Kanhar and PMG, Sambalpur, Shri L. Pradhan and all group officers of Circle Office were present.
