Odisha witnesses partial solar eclipse

Puri, March 9: Odisha witnessed partial solar eclipse on Wednesday.

Rituals in all temples in the state were closed from Tuesday evening due to the eclipse.

As per tradition, no ritual was held in the temple 12 hours before start of the eclipse.

As per the rules in the almanac, rituals have to be stopped 12 hours before the next day’s sunrise. The rituals were stopped in the temple at 5.59 PM on Tuesday after performing Sandhya Dhupa, Sandhya Alati and Tadapa Lagi.

According to Chief enumerator (Ganaka) of Samanta Chandra Panjika (Odia almanac) Jyotirbid Baikunthanath Nayak said the earth will witness solar eclipse on Wednesday from4.49 AM to end at 10.05 AM.

In Puri, the partial solar eclipse began at 5.20 AM and end at 6:20: 50 AM. The timing will be almost same at all places in Odisha though the aged, patients, boys and girls were exempted.
