Bhubaneswar, Dec 27: As the whole nation is adopting cashless transactions after demonetization of old Rs500 and Rs 1000 notes, in a similar manner, the Nandankanan zoo has also adopted the online ticket booking and card payment systems.
The online ticket facility service will be starting from Thursday and for the same, the zoo authorities have up with a bank. The bank will facilitate a card swipe machine so that card payments can also be made, informed a zoo official. After adopting this type of payment, more than Rs 10 lakh amount can be saved by the zoo. Annually the zoo has to pay Rs 14 lakh for ticket printing. But now the zoo will only spending Rs 3.5 lakh for maintenance of the online booking system, officials further added.
However, for online ticket booking, visitors will have to pay Rs 27 which in previous was RS 25 per head as Rs 2 will be charged extra for online booking system. Apart from that, two percent extra will also be charged for booking the rest house, barracks, and picnic spots online.
The online ticket booking system can proof to be beneficial for outstation tourists and it is expected that the number of zoo visitors will increase post this adaptation, zoo authorities stated.
