Paradip Murder case: Police conducts raid at house of OSL owner today

Bhubaneswar, Nov 26: Intensifying its probe into Seaways Shipping and Logistics Private Limited (SSPL) General Manager Mahendra Swain murder case, Jagatsinghpur police on Saturday conducted simultaneous raids at three places including Orissa Stevedores Limited (OSL) owner Mahima Mishra’s house located at Odia bazaar in Cuttack.

Police has also raided Mishra’s farm house in Nischintakoili and his Empire Hotel located at Saheed Nagar in Bhubaneswar in the wee hours of today. The police has laid its hands on some incriminating documents during the raids. On November 23, Police had also cancelled the firearm license of Mishra and his son Charchit. Besides, a team of Jagatsinghpur police also inspected the helicopter of the OSL chairman at the Biju Patnaik International Airport.

Notably on November 17, police confirmed the involvement of OSL in the brutal murder with the arrest of five persons including the prime accused Rakesh Choubey of Jamshedpur. Informing the media, IG, Central Range, Soumendra Priyadarshi said five persons including prime accused Rakesh Choubey of Jamshedpur have been arrested. While Riasat Hussein of Jamshedpur hurled bombs and fired at Swain, Mohammed Samim of Jharkhand helped Hussein to execute the plans. Besides, Shiva and Manoj Gochhayat of Cuttack were also involved in the murder case.

Though the Central Range IG declined to disclose much about the crime plot due to the sensitivity of the case, he, however, said the accused had several rounds of meeting in Jamshedpur, Kolkata and Cuttack and hatched a plot to eliminate Swain.
