Bhubaneswar, Sept 26: Demanding immediate release of pending salaries and fulfillment of 3-point charter of demands, employees of the Odisha State Cooperative Agriculture and Rural Development (OSCARD) bank launched an agitation today. However, the employees were detained by the police at Raj Bhawan square while they were marching forward to gherao Damodar Rout, Cooperation Minister’s house.

As per their allegation, since past seven years, the salaries of the employees of 46 OSCARD banks across the State are pending even after some employees have retired already.

Earlier, dharana had been staged by the employees at PMG square, pressing for their demands. The upheaval will be continued till the time the government intervenes in the issue, All Odisha Card Bank Employees’ Union president, Ratan Maharana informed.

As the NABARD did not provide line of credit to OSCARD bank since 2003, the bank had stopped its functioning.  The State has 46 branches of the bank and around 80 employees working in it.
