Bhubaneswar, Sept 17: Last night in an encounter with police at Nuagaon, a notorious criminal Bala Gajendra aka Suresh was arrested by the police.
Reportedly, after getting information about Bala’s presence at Nuagaon, the special squad of Twin City Commissionerate police conducted raid there. In the encounter, there was exchange of bullets between Bala and police as he tried to escape from the spot due to which he sustained bullet injuries on his right knee and was taken to the Capital Hospital. However, his associate had managed to flee the spot.
He was later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack from Capital Hospital.
As per sources, police seized a bike, a pistol, bullets and Rs 15,000 from Bala’s possession.
Notably, in the loot case at Gandamunda where few miscreants had looted an elderly couple of gold ornaments and over Rs. 3 lakh, Bala is the prime accused. As per reports, he was a part of several dacoity cases in Banapur and Khordha area.
