Police seized large quantities of ganja and nabbed seven persons in Malkangiri

Malkangiri, Sept 7: About two tonnes of ganja valued around Rs 2 crore has been seized and seven persons have been arrested by the Odisha Police on Tuesday at Somnathpur village in Malkangiri district of Odisha.

The persons arrested have been identified as Lachhu Padhani, Mangalu Ganda, Mahadev Bhadra, Gyani Harijan, Tulasiram Tarki, Laket Bhadra and Budu Bhadra.

The incident happened at the time of patrolling near Somnathpur when the police marked a group of people carrying large quantities of unknown consignment. After suspicions increased, the police raided them.

However, while they tried to flee from the place leaving the sacks behind, the patrolling police nabbed them and seized the consignment which was later recognized as marijuana.
