Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has decided to launch a population-based cancer registry service in all 30 districts.
This move will help the govt know which areas report what type of cancers and plan proper intervention measures.
At present, the registry has been initiated in two districts — Khurda and Mayurbhanj — on a pilot basis.
This data will help the govt know the emergence of types of cancers and make policies for that.
The govt has made cancer a reportable disease. Both state and private healthcare facilities will have to notify the health department about the admission or registration of cancer patients so that the govt has central data of cancer patients.
