Post Poll Violence: Odisha UU demand vacating hostels by students today

Bhubaneswar, Oct 7: Due to the post-poll violence in the Utkal University campus here, the students there are asked to vacate hostel as soon as possible by the campus authorities. The Girls are asked to leave the ladies hostel by 4pm today and the boys have to do the same by 5pm today. This information was given by the PG Council Chairman, Ranjan Kumar Bal.

Notably, after the results were declared of the students’ elections, two rival student groups of Biju Chhatra Janata Dal (BCJD) and National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) ended up in a scuffle ultimately lashed in the campus yesterday. The situation came under control only after police intervention and resorting of lathi charge. Security arrangements have been tightened to avoid any untoward incident in the campus, however, the situation continues to remain tense.
