Bhubaneswar: On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Narendra Modi expressed his condolences to the victims of the tragic bus accident that occurred in the Ganjam district of Odisha.
The Prime Minister announced an ex-gratia from PMNRF of Rs. 2 lacks to the next of kin of each deceased and Rs. 50,000 for those injured.
The Prime Minister tweeted; “Pained by the bus accident in Ganjam district, Odisha. Condolences to those who lost their loved ones. May the injured recover soon. An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakhs from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000: PM”
Tragedy struck in the early hours of Monday as two buses collided head-on near Digapahandi, resulting in the loss of 12 lives, including four women and two minors. Additionally, seven individuals sustained serious injuries in the unfortunate incident.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also expressed deep grief over the loss of lives in the accident. Taking to twitter, Shah said, ‘Anguished by the tragic road accident in Digapahandi (Odisha) that claimed precious lives. In this hour of grief, my thoughts are with their family members. May the Almighty give them the strength to bear this. I also pray for the speedy recovery of the injured’.
