Puri: June 01: The servitors of Srimandir, Puri, called for boycott of Ratha Jatra coordination meeting to be chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to be held on July 3. Servitors under the banner Jagannath Sevayat Sammelani have asked the servitors not to attend the Ratha Yatra coordination meeting this year to protest a series of false allegations levelled against them. The servitors expressed their displeasure through the poster against the district collector.
The servitors body said through poster, ‘As the district collector will be present in the meeting, the Jagannath Sevayat Sammelani has asked the servitors not to participate in it. They alleged that, district collector has maligned the image of servitors in different occasions starting from Neeladri Bije to misconduct to the First Lady of the country.’
On Saturday, Ashok Malik, the press secretary of the President clarified that no letter was sent from Rashtrapati Bhawan to the Puri district administration.
“Those who are claiming of such a letter from the President’s office should produce it. All these reports are mere speculations. Some servitors did try to breach security protocols to come closer to the President of India but they were stopped,” he clarified.
