Rayagada: December 25: The Zilla Parishad president of the Rayagada district Purushottam Gamanga died in a road accident. He was coming from the Court in Rayagada to Gunupur when he met an accident at Tandikana Village of Ramnaguda Block.
Locals first took him to Ramnaguda Hospital and then to Gunupur. Further, he was shifted to Srikakulam Hospital, where Doctor declared him ‘brought dead’.
Rayagada district judge yesterday disqualified Gamanga and declared his election as null and void due to discrepancies. BJD candidate Gangadhar Puala had filed a petition in the court of district and sessions judge against Gamanga’s election.
His body was brought to Gunupur where thousands of people paid homage.The last rites were conducted in his ancestral village named Antarjholi.
