MUMBAI, SEPT 22: The Indian rupee today lost 15 paise against the US dollar to close at 65.88 on sustained demand for the American currency from banks and importers.
The domestic currency resumed slightly higher at 65.67 per dollar as against the overnight level of 65.73 at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market.
It hovered in a range of 65.95 to 65.55 per dollar during the day before concluding at 65.88, showing a loss of 15 paise or 0.23 per cent.
However, the rupee moved up against the pound sterling to close at 101.67 from 102.09 yesterday and also firmed up against the euro to 73.55 from 74.00. But, it declined against the Japanese currency to 54.93 per 100 yen from 54.53.
