Bhubaneswar, Aug 2: The Odisha Government has announced the decision to make available the domestic fuel, kerosene which is used by many households for various purposes, to non-PDS beneficiaries at all the petrol pumps in the state at the ongoing market rate in order to reduce the problem faced by common citizens in purchasing kerosene from the market.
This was informed by Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Secretary, Pardipta Mahapatra to the media yesterday. Sanjay Lath, general secretary of Utkal Petroleum Dealers’ Association, said that kerosene should be made available at selective petrol pumps and not all so that the process can be expedited. He further added that the basic requirement to start the work is an underground storage tank and a dispensing pump. Considering the reach of the petrol pumps spreading across the state including in rural areas, the decision of the state government would immensely benefit consumers in availing the non-PDS kerosene.
