Cuttack, Mar 7: On Monday, the Orissa High Court permitted an interim protection from arrest to BJD’s Balasore MP Rabindra Jena. Jena had been interrogated severally by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on charges of his alleged links with Seashore Group that is a major player in the mega chit fund scam in the state. The court futher ordered that no coericve action is to be taken against Jena until the next hearing that is slated to be after 3 weeks. On Jan 13, the MP had asked for an anticipatory bail by the Orissa HC, a day after the Central investigating agency raided the parliamentarian’s residences in Balasore and Delhi, office of Jena in OT road and OM Pipe Manufacturing factory here. Jena on Dec 10, 2016  had appeared before the CBI himself on being summoned. He was grilled for around 7 hours on his alleged links. Notably, Supratik Group of Companies headed by the Balasore MP had secured a loan of Rs. 18 crore from Seashore Group in 2010. He had repaid the lion’s share of the money, but still owed Rs. 1.86 crore.
