Bhubaneswar: January 25: Second executive committee meeting for the Men’s Hockey World Cup 2018 was held here today at State Secretariat. After the meeting Chief Secretary informed, capacity of the Kalinga Stadium will be doubled and work of the second hockey field inside the stadium premises will be completed by July this year. It has also been decided to install new turf in both the stadiums as per the Olympic regulations while the old one will be sent to be used in Rourkela and Sambalpur hockey stadiums.
Executive Committee has also discussed regarding parking, entry point, cafeteria, food court, sport goods stores and traffic issues. A special committee has been formed for traffic and parking issues during the mega sporting event to be held in November this year.
Promotion of the Hockey World Cup will be carried out in all blocks and LED panels will be installed in every district to facilitate spectators watch live matches during the hockey tournament.
The meeting was attended by Hockey India League (HIL) CEO, DGP, Police Commissioner and Tourism Secretary were present at the meeting.
