Security tightened for Durga idol immersion in the twin cities

Bhubaneswar, Oct 12: With the end of the four days long Durga Puja festive season, the procession for the idol immersion of the Goddess will begin today. To hold the immersion procession peacefully, all the necessary arrangements have been carried out by the Commissionerate police in the twin cities i.e., Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.

As per the information, in Bhubaneswar, the idol immersion will be finished by 12 midnight today. The same has been instructed to the all Puja Committees in the city. The sound level of the DJs called by the organizers should be under 58 decibel as per the court order, informed Satyabrata Bhoi, DCP of Bhubaneswar.

To maintain law and order under control, 30 platoons of police forces have been deployed in the city mainly in the sensitive areas and the arrangements is being supervised by five DCP rank officer with 12 top police officials.

This year to minimize the water pollution during immersion, temporary ponds have been created at Kuakhai, Daya and Bhargavi rivers in Bhubaneswar.

Similarly, in Cuttack, to avoid any untoward situation during immersion, around 46 police platoons have been deployed in the city. Besides that, Special Operation Group (SOG), Members of Quick Action Team (QAT) and anti-terror squad have also been deployed in plain clothes.

In Cuttack, the Puja committees have been instructed to start the immersion process at 8 am. Temporary ponds at Devigada on the bank of Kathajodi River have been constructed for idol immersion
