Cuttack: September 09: Dr. R.P.Sharma DGP, Odisha held a meeting of the senior officials of State Police, CRPF and BSF today i.e. on 08.09.2017 to review the LWE scenario in the State. Sh. Sunil Roy, Director (Intelligence), Sh. Arun Sarangi, Special Director (Intelligence), Sh. R.P.Koche, IG of Police (Operations), Sh. K..K.Sharma, IG, CRPF, Sh. A.K.Singh, IG, BSF, Sh. Narasingha Bhol, DIG of Police, Special Intelligence Wing and other senior officers of State Police and Central Forces attended the meeting.
In this meeting, present naxal scenario and wide range of other issues relating to operational strategies and infrastructure related issues were discussed. The meeting appreciated the combined efforts of the State Forces and the Central Forces in combating the naxal menace in which 39 naxals were neutralized, 50 naxal cadres / militias were arrested and 53 surrendered during the period 2016 -2017 (till 31.08.2017).
It was decided to further intensify the anti-naxal operations in the affected areas, particularly in the inter-State border areas, with coordinated efforts and synergy between the State Police Forces and Central Forces. It was also decided to plug the security vacuum in sensitive areas by fast tracking
re-deployment of the forces. The Government of India will be requested to provide two additional battalions of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) to the State at the earliest to address the asymmetric deployment of Security Forces in the inter-State border.
