Taliban Will Empower Women: Shahid Afridi
Lahore, August 31: Afghanistan has become the playground for militants with the Taliban takeover. After US exit, early morning today, the Talibanis seems to have been enjoying their endless freedom in the war-torn country. The Islamic military organization is known to promote religious fanaticism and suppress human rights. And without any questions, Pakistan has become the supporter of the group.
Earlier today, former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi, supporting the Taliban, has said, “The Taliban has come with a positive mindset this time. They are supporting women empowerment by allowing women in the country to study and work. They have also allowed women to work in politics”. However, his statements completely contradicts the with the people of Afghanistan and of those, desperately willing to leave the war-torn country.

Reportedly, thousands of Afghans have left the country, migrated to western countries in search for peace and freedom. They have left the country in fear of the Taliban control. Many Afghans have also reported, that the Taliban has been entering homes and shooting people and exploiting women. As per an earlier report, the Taliban was also seen removing photos of women from hoardings, bill boards and advertisements across the country.
Shahid Afridi, taking to the press has also said, “I hope that the Taliban will support & love cricket. They will promote this sport”. However, the way the Talibanis have captured the cricket board and it’s players, it seems there is no hope & future for the country’s place in international cricket. Many cricketers from Afghanistan, who are abroad, playing for their country have shown concerns over the safety of their families back home.
Afridi had many a times talked about the Kashmir issue. Many of his statements have been controversial too. Targeting the Indian PM Shri Narendra Modi, he had said that the country under his leadership is discriminating on religious lines in Kashmir. Upon his statement, Indian cricketers, Harbhajan Singh, Yuvraj SIngh, Suresh Raina had also advised him to handle Pakistan’s failure instead of charging up on Kashmir.
Notably, Shahid Afridi is looking for a future in politics and this is the reason for his controversial statements. According to Analysts, he may be thinking, that his such statements can keep him in discussion in the media and thus increase his value in the eyes of the Pakistani Public.
Though Pakistan’s current PM & former Pakistani cricketer Imran Khan has failed in all fronts in his country, Shahid Afridi still thinks him as his role model.
