375 Kilograms Of Cannabis Caught In Odisha: Was Being Transported To Bihar

Cannabis Worth 35 Lakhs Caught

Berhampur, August 31: A truck load of contraband, being transported from Odisha’s Gajapati district to Bihar, was caught by a team of Narcotics Department earlier today.

Notably, a team of the Berhampur Narcotics Department on suspicion, road blocked the truck at Padarbali Chowk near Sadar Police station in the district. The truck, a West Bengal registered vehicle, was detained for inspection. However upon search it was found to be empty. But a further investigation revealed that the truck had a secret chamber filled with bags full of cannabis. After this, the police have seized nearly 375 kilograms of cannabis estimated to be of worth Rs 34.25 lakh. Two people involved in the transport of the contraband were also arrested by the police. A detail investigation is underway, said police sources.
