Bhubaneswar, May 26: The much talked SOA varsity fake job offer letter scam, in which the students early last evening had gone for a hunger strike till death, have finally called off the strike this morning. The protest was called off after the university vice-chancellor gave assurance to the students on legal papers.
In the meanwhile, the commissionerate police has also arrested the Dean, ITER (placement cell), Raj Kishore Hota for his alleged involvement in the scam.
The vice-chancellor, on stamp papers, has assured Rs 20,000 stipend for a year along with new job in three months for the students, who have fallen victim to the scam.
To be mentioned, after seeing the negligence of the SOA varsity authorities towards the heeds of parents and students who have become a victim of the fake job scam, the later, late last evening, went onto a hunger strike till death demanding the university to give an assurance of the promise they have made, on legal papers.
The students, alleged that the vice-chancellor is not ready to respond to our issues, rather he is sitting in a full air-conditioned room and focussing on the new admissions.
Notably, after the fake job offer letter issue came to limelight, the varsity authorities had promised to provide Rs 20,000 monthly stipend to each student, who is a victim of the scam, for being a teaching assistant at the university and will also provide free M.tech or 1 year free MBA. But, however, non of these promises were assured legally.
