The health condition of Padma recipient Kamala Pujari has deteriorated. She was moved from the emergency room to the intensive care unit (ICU) at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
She was transferred to SCB Medical College and Hospital on August 21 from the district hospital in Koraput.
The SCB authorities have formed a special team of doctors for the treatment of Pujari who is suffering from kidney-related ailments.
The tribal woman from Koraput received the coveted Padma Shri Award in 2019 for preserving hundreds of native rice varietals. Pujari popularised organic farming in Koraput in addition to collecting numerously endangered and uncommon varieties of agricultural seeds, including rice, turmeric, til, and black cumin.
