State in all readiness to face the impending Cyclone 'Amphan': Chief Secretary

Bhubaneswar: May 19: Cabinet Secretary Sri Rajiv Gauba discussed with Chief Secretary Sri Asit Tripathy along with Additional Chief Secretary and SRC Sri Pradeep Kumar Jena and  Principal Secretary Home Sri Sanjiv Chopra on preparedness of Odisha  for ensuing cyclone Amphan.

The issues relating to evacuation of people from vulnerable areas, relief, rescue, storing of essential commodities and immediate restoration of road communication, power connectivity etc were discussed.

Chief Secretary Sri Tripathy appraised that the evacuation of people from vulnerable area would be completed today.

Sri Tripathy also appraised that manpower and equipment were moved to strategic points for immediate restoration of road and power communication from both sides.

DG sets were hired to keep the water supply uninterrupted. The telecom companies requested to keep DG sets for un-interrupted tele-communication.

Truck mounted telecom towers kept ready for any eventuality. Cyclone shelters made ready with necessary equipment.

Cabinet Secretary assured of all assistance to State for countering the cyclone. He directed different central departments to stay in touch with State departments.

Additional chief secretary Sri Jena appraised,  “ In addition to PRI and local administration, we are using local based alert system (LBAS) and self broadcasting system for extending our outreach to people without creating panic among them”.
