Bhubaneswar, Oct 28: With the death of one more person identified as Gopal Dalei of Janla Ogalapada area in Khurda district on Friday, the death toll has mounted to 29 in the Sum Hospital fire mishap.
As per sources, Dalei died while undergoing treatment at Nilachal hospital on Friday.
Notably, today the Khurda ADJ-2 court will announce its hearing decision upon the bail application filed by SUM Hospital owner, Manoj Nayak. Nayak who is currently at the Jharpada jail here after his arrest on Oct 20 in connection with the SUM Hospital Fire Mishap incident. He was also on a two day police remand period from Oct 21.
Yesterday the court had reserved its order on the same after it judged arguments from both sides for two hours. While the prosecution was in against of the bail application of Nayak based on the case diary submitted to the court, on the other hand, the accused’s counsel argued in favour of the bail rather blaming the Fire Services Department for its delayed arrival at the spot and also for not establishing proper fire safety measures at the hospital premises. However the hearing yesterday also concluded on the bail plea of Capital Hospital Superintendent, Pusparaj Samantsinghar.
