Supplementary budget of Rs 11,448cr presented in Odisha Assembly

Bhubaneswar, Dec 1:  Amidst walkout of the Opposition the state Finance Minister Pradip Kumar Amat presented a supplementary budget of Rs.11,448 crore for the year 2015-16.

According to the budget outlay, the Panchayati Raj department has received maximum allocation of Rs 1921 crore followed by Works department with Rs 1341 crore, School and Mass Education department with Rs 854 crore, Agriculture department with Rs 489 crore, Water Resources department with Rs 280 crore, Health and Family Welfare department with RS 123 crore, Home department with Rs 80 crore and Revenue and Disaster Management department with Rs 17.29 crore.

No discussion on the supplementary budget was possible as the Opposition Congress and BJP staged a walkout in the House in protest against the denial of Speaker Niranjan Pujari to initiate a debate on farmer suicides in the state.

After the presentation of the budget, the Speaker adjourned the House till 10.30 AM on Wednesday.
