Baripada, June 5: In a tragic incident a woman being suspected of a child lifter was killed by a mob at Domuhani village in Mayurbhanj early on Saturday.

Identified as Basanti Mohanta, a resident Anla village in Mayurbhanj district, the deceased had earlier gone to visit her daughter in Kalikapur area in the town but went missing from June 1, to which her daughter filed a missing complaint at a Baripada police station.

Later on friday, after Basanti reached Domuhani, he was caught by the locals, who tied her to a tree and pelted stones. When she tried to escape to save her life, she was beaten up with sticks, black and blue by the mob. And unfortunately she died on the spot.

Following to her death, the district police yesterday arrested 10 persons and had produced them before a local court.

As per sources, many people are involved in the lynching of the 48 year old woman. While ten have already been arrested, few more villagers are also likely to be arrested soon.
