Bhubaneswar, Apr 2: The prime accused to the Tamando firing incident on March 15, in which a youth was killed, has been successfully nabbed by the Commissionerate police today.
Identified as Bapi Patnaik, the accused was arrested today from Paradip by a special team of commissionerate police along with the special squad. The police has seized a gun along with two rounds of bullets from the accused’s possession.
Earlier on March 16, Tamando Police had arrested the accused’s parents Pravakar Patnaik and Snehalata Patnaik and also arrested another relative Soumyajit Behera aka Kanha under section 302, 301, 341, 323, 294, 506 and 34 of IPC. The three were arrested for motivating the accused to kill the youth.
Notably, leading to a past rivalry during the holi celebrations of 2017, the deceased identified as Abhijit aka Sipu Behera of Behera Sahi in Tamando was shot dead by Bapi and four others on the early evening of 15th of March at Tamando in Bhubaneswar. Sipu was rushed to the AMRI hospitals in the city, but he unfortunately succumbed to his death while treatment.
