Bhadrak, Apr 8: Today in view of the Bhadrak tensed situation, although there is considerable improvement but the curfew engulfed in the town will continue for some time. This was said by the Director General of Police K.B. Singh. He said this after a review of the situation. He stated that apart from minor incidents of shop looting and ransacking, there neither has been any sort of major violence nor any casualties have been reported and hence the overall situation is under control.
He further stated that Bhadrak has a good tradition of ‘communal harmony’ and appealed people to cooperate in maintaining law and order and not react to rumours and messages on the social media. A detailed plan has been strategized for restoring peace and so 35 platoons of police force have been deployed in Bhadrak which has been divided into four sectors. Forces have been deployed at strategic locations. Also, transportation has become normal and around 10 senior police official and commandments are closely monitoring the situation here. On Thursday, few objectionable religious posts on social media sparked off tension here.
