Bhubaneswar Sept 16: The 15-member Himalayan expedition team, comprising nine men and six women, was flagged off by the chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday for their expedition who wished them luck for their mission and handed over flags.
Padmashri Bachendri Pal, the first Indian lady who climbed Mt Everest and Padmashri Premalata Agarwal will lead the team.
The team formed under the programme Biju Patnaik Himalaya Abhijan, will begin their 15-day from Bhubaneswar tour, during which they will climb Mt Rudugaira, a 19,100 feet mountain, and will return back on October 7.
On the occasion of Biju birth centenary celebration, the programme was launched by State Sports and youth Service Department in association with Tata Steel Adventure Foundation.
