Total number of COVID-19 cases in India cross 70,000-mark on Tuesday

Bhubaneswar: May 12: As on 12th May 2020, a total of 70,756 cases have been reported from the country in which 22,455 persons have been cured and 2,293 deaths had occurred. In the last 24 hours, 3,604 new confirmed cases have been added and 1538 patients were found cured.

While the doubling time in the past 14 days was 10.9, it has improved to 12.2 in the last three days, as informed by Union Health Ministry

Ministry further said, the fatality rate is 3.2% and recovery rate is pegged at 31.74%.

Maharashtra continues to be the worst-hit State with 23,401 cases, followed by Gujarat (8541), Tamilnadu (8002), Delhi (7233), Rajasthan (3988), Madhya Pradesh (3785) and Uttar Pradesh with 3573 cases.

India at present is the 11th most affected among 187 countries with coronavirus cases.

Globally, 4,282,366 people have been affected and total number of deaths for COVID-19  now stands at 2,88,083.
