Two more cases filed against ex-Congress MLA Ramesh Jena

Berhampur, March 12: Arrested ex-Congress MLA Ramesh Jena is sinking deeper into trouble with two new cases being filed against the former, Sanakhemundi MLA.

According to sources, a murder case and an attempt to murder case have been filed against the ex-legislator. The cases have been filed in BNpur and Town police stations, respectively said sources.

Southern Range IG Amitabh Thakur informed that Jena could be taken into remand further considering the number of cases which have been filed against him. Thakur also refuted the allegations that false charges are being framed against the former legislator that Police has been able to find vital evidence against him.

On Friday Police investigations revealed the chit fund links of Jena. According to Berhampur SP Sarthak Sarangi, Jena has links to the scam-tainted Green India Chit fund company. Moreover, a luxury vehicle belonging to Jena bearing a Haryana state registration number has also been seized, informed the Berhampur SP On Thursday, police had raided Jena’s house at Gambhariguda village under Patapur police station limits in Ganjam district and seized two revolvers and some incriminating documents. According to police sources, Jena has 12 cases pending in his name at various police stations in Ganjam police district and 13 cases in Berhampur police district.

Police have established his involvement in murder, thrashing and maiming people, tender fixing, forcible possession and purchase of private land by threatening people, gutkha trade, country liquor trade and transport business. A team of Berhampur Police on March 6 had arrested Jena along with his three associates from Bhubaneswar in connection with the February 29 bomb explosion in the house of a local corporator.
