Bhubaneswar, Aug 25: On Aug 20, Sri Manoj Sinha Honble MOS (I/c) Communications & MOS- Railways participated in a Program for release of New LPG Connections under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana at Puri. The function was held at Town Hall, Puri and a total of 300 LPG connections were released by the 6 distributors. During the program a video was displayed to explain the need for converting to LPG and the safe handling practices of of domestic LPG.
Sri B N Mohapatra, AGM, ECO railways, Sri Basant Panda, Honble MLA, Nuapada, Sri G Swaminathan, CLM –IOC, Sri Dharmendra Behura Sr Regional Manager HPC and other prominent social workers in the district were present during the function. Sri G Swaminathan in his welcome address conveyed the need for shifting to a cleaner and greener fuel and the Vision of Honble Prime Minister to improve the health and livelihood of all the mothers and sisters in the country.
In this direction the Oil Companies in Odisha are moving with the goal envisaged by Sri Dharmendra Pradhan, Honble Union Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas of empowering at least 30 lakh families with LPG Connection under this yojana and another 10 lakh family with LPG Connection under APL category in the next three years.
As per the road map set for the Oil Companies by the Petroleum Minister Sri Pradhan, the number of connections must be doubled in the next three years thereby reaching the national average in respect of LPG penetration in the state.
Sri Manoj Sinha in his address lauded the efforts in this direction and stated that this yojana has bought cheer among the women of our country especially in the BPL category. The schemes envisaged by the Sri Narendra Modi, Honourable Prime Minister of India are with a view to enrich the poor and needy in this country as he can empathise with the needs of these families since he has witnessed the sufferings of these families while growing up under such conditions. The schemes are more from the heart to make lives better for the people.
Sri Basant Panda in his address lauded the efforts of the Oil Industry under the Guidance and dynamism of the Petroleum Minister and in a short period of less than 27 months, the Oil Industry has been able to release 15 lakh connections (to the existing 25 lakh connections released in the past) till May 2014.
