UUC confers D. Litt to eminent Artists of Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Apr 5: The fifth Convocation ceremony of Utkal University of Culture was held today at the Rabindra Mandap in Bhubaneswar, where many genius smart cookies of Odisha were conferred with a D. Litt. The Function was presided over by Hon’ble Governor of Odisha and Chancellor of the University, Dr. S. C. Jamir.

After declaring the convocation open, the Hon’ble Chancellor of the University Dr. Jamir presented the award of Honoris Causa to some eminent personalities of Odisha, who have given their life towards development of Art and Culture in Odisha. People who were conferred the with Doctors of Letters (D. Litt) were Classical Visharad (master) Dr. Gopal Panda, Eminent national award winning film maker Dr. Manmohan Mohapatra, Professor and eminent literary guru Dr. Rajat Kar and Professor Ghasi Ram Mishra.

Delivering the convocation address, Dr. Ratan Thiyam, Chairperson, National School of Drama, New Delhi, graced the occasion as the distinguished chief guest of the morning. He was also conferred with the D. Litt from the University by Hon’ble Dr. Jamir.

Other dignitaries who were present on the occasion were Shri Ashok Chandra Panda, Hon’ble Minister Tourism & Culture, Odisha; Shri Manoranjan Panigrahy, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Culture Department, Govt. of Odisha; Shri Amarendra kumar Patnaik, OAS, Director-cum-Additional secretary, Culture Department, Govt. of Odisha and others.
