Bhubaneswar, Nov 7: Government of Odisha will add two more Vigilance courts at Dhenkanal and Angul to make the governance system more transparent.This was announced by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik while attending a programme of Vigilance week, held at Rabindra Mandap on Monday. Already, Odisha has Vigilance offices in all Revenue districts besides two additional courts in Sundergarh and Cuttack.Stating about the number of cases registered, Rejendra Prasad Sharma, Director of Vigilance informed that till September 2016, 449 cases have been registered whereas the number of cases registered last year were 464. Sharma informed that in 2015, based on different cases, 288 people had been arrested whereas in 2016, 285 were held, including 29 Class-I officers and 27 Class-II officers.Further he informed that in 2015, 78 cases were closed as compared to 2016 where 57 cases ended by September. In last five years, 5 Class-I, 15 Class-II and 108 Class-III public servants have been terminated from duty due their complicity in different Vigilance cases.
