Koraput, Dec 21: Villagers of Deoghat in Koraput district of Odisha had to bury the dead body instead of burning it by firewood apprehending gas leak from a LPG carrying tanker which met an accident near their village. In fact, as said by police, villagers were not allowed to burn the dead body in firewood to avoid further risk.

As said, a tanker carrying LPG was going to Raipur via Koraput and near the village Deoghat of Koraput district; it overturned and fell into a nullah. The incident happened on Monday and next day, villagers complained gas leakage from the tanker. Police and Fire Service Personnel reached the spot and after five hours of operation, could be able to empty the tanker. During operation, Police sealed the road and prohibited vehicular movement besides snapping the mobile network and power supply.

IOCL’s senior technical team is investigating the incident, sources said.
