Bhubaneswar/March 11

The diatom report on Saturday further confirmed that Chinmayi Priyadarshini Sahoo, a former student of Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT), had died of drowning. Earlier the post-mortem report had also highlighted drowning as the cause of death.

Chinmayi, a VSSUT student from Burla, Sambalpur, went missing after falling into the channel while visiting the Power Channel bridge in Burla. On March 1, her body was discovered.

Chinamyi’s family members claimed she was murdered because there were injury marks around her neck.

The Sambalpur police have received from the Bhubaneswar FSL the results of lie detection tests conducted on two male friends of the deceased Chinmayi. SP B. Gangadhar of Sambalpur also disclosed that narco tests may be administered if the polygraph results are unsatisfactory.

In this case, more than thirty individuals, including family members, friends, shopkeepers, and a Dhaba owner, have been questioned to date.

Meanwhile, the two suspects, including the male friend of deceased Chinmayi were released on bond after interrogation.
