WB official meets CM, discuss OCTM for rural poor

Bhubaneswar, March 5: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday held a discussion on rural poor with South Asia Regional Manager of World Bank Martien Van Neeuwkoop.

During the discussion the Chief Minister the State Government’s intention of bringing 10 lakh hectares under irrigation in the next four years and expanding the second phase of Odisha Community Tank Management (OCTM) project to benefit two lakh rural households in farming and allied activities, Officials said.

Notably, the State Government in partnership with the Centre had initiated OCTM to repair and rehabilitate approximately 900 minor irrigation tanks across the State with funding from World Bank.

To conceptualise and operationalise the OCTMP, a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), Odisha Community Tank Development and Management Society (OCTDMS) has been formed under the Department of Water Resources.
