129/5 In 32 Overs. England Are Struggling In The First Innings Of Fourth Test

Great start for India on the second day of the fourth test at the Oval. England loses its fifth wicket to Umesh Yadav, who completes his 150 wickets in Test Cricket.

England who started the 2nd day of the fourth test match against India at 53/3, have now lost two more wicket. With a poor start of the day, the English lost their night watchman Craig Overton in just the second over of the day to Umesh Yadav. Soon later, followed him, the Birthday Boy, Dawid Milan after getting caught by Rohit at the second slip. Umesh’s lengthy delivery outside off, that swung right in to an extent made Malan feel to go for it.

On the other hand, Umesh Yadav, who returned to the playing XI after almost 6 months, has completed his 150 wickets in Test cricket. Umesh achieved this feat in the 49th match. Umesh became the 16th bowler for India to take 150 Test wickets.

The game of the first session of the second day is going to be very important for both the teams. Indian bowlers have done a great job by dismissing the England openers including Joe Root, who was in excellent form. Ollie Pope & Jonny Bairstow are currently batting for England. The strategy of the Indian bowlers will be to put pressure on England from the first session and the team will aim to bowl out the hosts as soon as possible.

4th test / Day 1:

After getting bowled out for 191 in the first innings, all hopes for the Indian team looked flooded. However, Shardul Thakur’s explosive 57 in just 36 balls helped India reach such a spot on the score board. In the final session of the Indian innings, Shardul Thakur entertained the fans with his explosive performance. Shardul completed his second half-century of his Test career in just 31 balls.

On the other hand, England’s poor start was not what was expected. England ended the day at stumps with 53 runs losing 3 wickets. India’s Jasmit Bumrah’s  exceptional bowling resulted in, the British losing 2 wickets in the beginning of the match. Bumrah dismissed England’s Rory Burns with just 5 runs, while Haseeb Hameed was unable to open his account. Towards the end of the match Joe Root (21) was bowled out by Umesh Yadav. David Malan (26) and night watchman Craig Overton (1) were at the crease towards the end of the day at stumps.

Indian captain Virat Kohli who was dropped by Joe Root at 22, completed his 27th half-century in Test cricket and 9th against England. It was Virat’s second half-century in this series. A big innings was expected from Kohli, but he once again got his catch behind the wicket off Robinson’s ball and was dismissed for 50.

However, with his half century, Kohli became the fastest batsman in test matches to score 23000 runs in just 490 matches surpassing Sachin who did it in 522 matches.
