Bhubaneswar: September 16: A team of officials from Wildlife Crime Control Bereau (WCCB) and Wildlife Institute of India (WII) reached Hatibari village under Tikarpada forest range area and conducted a review regarding the movement of the Tigress Sundari in its habitation.
The Tigress allegedly mauled a woman to death in the wildlife sanctuary in angul district. Further, the incident led violence as villagers demanded the relocation of the Tigress.
Officials hold discussions with the locals where the woman was allegedly attacked by Sundari and took stock of the situation at the Tikarpada Forest Range office and the beat house which was torched by irate locals.
On the other side, Forest Department has deployed two monitoring teams comprising 10-member field staff and police personnel.
It is yet to be ascertained whether the woman died after being attacked by the Tigress. The Forest Department is waiting for the post-mortem report of the woman who was killed during the incident.
Tigress Sundari was released into the Satkosia Tiger Reserve on August 17 this year to increase the population of big cats in the sanctuary.
