Kamakhyanagar, May 3: Today on their way to pull down a country liquor factory, hundreds of women faced a clash with the cops at Bhalumunda near Rengali canal under Kamakhyanagar police station in Dhenkanal. It so happened that when the women were on their way they were stopped by the police which resulted in this scuffle. Following this, transportation between Kankadahad and Kamakhyanagar came to a halt. During this time, the SDPO and Kamakhyanagar police station IIC were present on the spot.
Talking to the media, one of the agitating women said that the all the men in her family consume liquor each day and that is becoming difficult to control. Hence, demolishing all liquor shops was the only option left. Another irate woman said that her husband beats her after consuming alcohol. In spite of facing this harassment, the police are restricting from demolishing the liquor units.
On the other hand, Kamakhyanagar SDPO Seikh Karim stated that around 250 women had come up with sticks to ransack the liquor units without informing the cops.
