Zika virus case detected in Pune district of Maharashtra

Pune/Bhubaneswar: August 01: First case of Zika virus has been detected in a woman from Belsar in Pune District of Maharashtra, sources informed.

As informed by Health Department, the patient is now fully recovered from the Zika virus infection and nobody in her family have shown any symptoms.

The patient was diagnosed positive with Zika virus and also Chikungunya on Friday.

On Saturday, a health team had been to the place and studied the situation. The team  held meetings with local authorities like Sarpanch, Gram Panchayat Members and local health authorities and advised them about the precautions to be taken if any other Zika patients are detected.
The Zika virus is caused by the Aedes Aegypti mosquito, and 80 per cent of the patients do not get any symptoms, while the rest may suffer from fever, body-ache, itching eyes, acne and joint pains, and pregnant women could suffer miscarriage if they contract it.
