Bhubaneswar, Mar 12: With the end of the Panchayat poll elections, its time for the Zilla Parishad chairman elections which was scheduled to be held today in Odisha. It seems the leaders of the political parties in Odisha are having gross eyes on the improvement, while to prevent cross voting in the districts, different strategies have been adopted by the parties.
The nomination process which started at 10 am has ended by yet. But, for some candidates the elections process was held from 1.30 pm to 4 pm, as per a notification by the State election commission.
As per sources, it is seemed that BJD will hold the councils in 14 district, while BJP will form in 7 and one post may go in favour of Congress. In a view to leave no chance to capture the panchayat Samitis, the ruling BJD earlier, had issued whip to all its Zilla Parishad members to vote on party line.
In a order to prepare strategies for the Zilla Parishad chairman elections, party supremo Naveen Patnaik had called up a meeting earlier this week with the senior leaders, including the district unit presidents.
