Bhubaneswar, Dec 17: Yesterday at a press meet the BJP party leaders outraged over the alleged involvement of City Mayor, Ananta Narayan Jena in a viral sex video and into the murder of engineering student Ashutosh Mohanty aka Rishi, announced that they would be staging demonstartions at eight places across the state capital today. Over the murder case of Rishi, the party leaders stated that the Commissionerate Police has been silent under the influence of Jena after registering an unnatural death case. The party asked for an answer from the cops asking them as to who the investigative officer of the unnatural death case was and what is the status of the final report, where the seized mobile laptop are and why Sheikh Umtaz, who was drug supplier to Rishi has not been arrested yet.
The BJP state vice-president Sameer Mohanty has directed the cops to release the viscera report and case diary of the matter along with a report after scanning the audio of the sex video clip within 24 hours. The party district President Harekrushna Khuntia has further demanded that the Chief Minister must dismiss the mayor so that it can be assured that an impartial investigation would take place or else the party would conduct an indefinite protest ahead of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) office from Monday.
Yesterday the Commissionerate police sent notice to Itish Pradhan, state chief of National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) and Pradip Pandi, head of a news website in connection with this ongoing case. The notice was based on an FIR filed by Jena against Pradhan and Pandi. Police have given Pradhan and Pandi a week’s time to appear before it. Meanwhile, terming the allegation to tarnish his image Jena has filed a defamation suit against Pradhan and Pandi. Demanding immediate arrest of Pandi and Pradhan, a large number of Jena’s supporters had blocked the Jaydev Vihar-Power House Chhak main road for over two hours yesterday. Later police intervened to bring the situation under control. It’s also stated that the police will soon send the tape for forensic test.
