Bhubaneswar, Apr 10: The much awaited 4th Kalinga international Buddhist conclave has been inaugurated at the capital city today. The conclave which has been organised by the Odisha Tourism Dept. shall promote the Buddhist culture & heritage of Odisha not only in the country but across the globe.
The conclave which invites eminent scholars, academicians, researchers, historians, travellers, and travel agents from around, discuss deliberately about the rich Buddhist heritage of Odisha and ways to make it reach to people, globally.
Buddhism in Odisha id old, and Buddhists sites in the land are there since ages. Many Buddhist sites have been discovered in the lands and many of them have already been excavated. Some prominent sites which stayed back and are still glowing with its rich culture & heritage and especially the landscaping beauty are lalitgiri, Udayagiri, Ratnagiri, Aragarh, Dhauligiri, etc.
The conclave which is to be organised from 10th to 12th of April 2017, will attract over 200 international and national delegates (scholars) of Buddhism from around the world. It is organised by the Odisha tourism in association with Odishan Institute of Maritime and South East Asian Studies and Archaeological Survey of India.
