Accused Were Involved In Another Rape Case
Mysuru, August 28: The gang rape incident that shook Karnataka earlier this week has finally take a new shape as the persons involved in the heinous crime have been nabbed by a five special teams of the Karnataka police, who were investigating the case from different angles, earlier today.
Out of the five accused in the case, four were arrested from Sathyamangala in Tamil Nadu while the 5th one was caught hiding in the south-town of Chamarajanagar in Karnataka.
State Home Minister, Araga jnanendra, who earlier came into limelight for his controversial statement in this case, in face to face with the reporters has said that in a successful operation by the Karnataka police, culprits involved in the heinous crime have been nabbed. However, he refused to say anything further and concluded by saying that the government would reveal the details by day end.
According to sources, the police after securing several liquor bottles from the crime scene, traced it to a nearby Liquor shop from where the miscreants had bought the liquor from. After acquiring the CCTV footage from the shop, the Karnataka police matched the footage with the details of local criminals informed by the Tamil Nadu police.
According to police sources, the persons arrested are habitual offenders and were also involved in other rape incidents in Mysuru.
Tha Gang had followed the couple for 3 days in plans to rob them, however, on the fourth day the gang rapped the victim, added sources.
Notably the Mysuru Gang Rape incident took place on 24th of August at nearly 7.20PM, when a group of men, seeing a couple on the road, passed rude comments, videotaped the duo and teased them. On objecting, the men became violent and beat up the friend badly and even struck her with stones. Unfortunately, he became unconscious. Soon later they molested and rapped the girl and video taped it too. Before leaving, they also threatened the woman that if she utters a single word to the police, they would release the video to the public.
